Ancon Hill is the highest point with 654-foot hill that overlooks Panama City. No mater where you go in Panama city, Ancon hill is visible from just about everywhere. Ancon Hill is the most popular viewpoint in Panama City, with views over the Panama Canal, city center and Casco Viejo old town region. Ancon Hill is an area that was used for administration of the Panama Canal. It was under U.S. jurisdiction as part of the Panama Canal Zone until being returned to Panama in 1977.
It will take us an approximately a 45 minute walk by a single paved lane to get to the top.
Amador Causeway was built using soil excavated during the canal’s construction and today is popular with walkers and cyclists. It’s the capital’s best vantage points for watching the large container ships enter and exit the canal.
Panama Viejo was built in 1673 after Captain Henry Morgan destroyed Casco Antiguo. You will be charmed by the streets of Panama viejo.
Avenida Balboa is the most modern and wide street in Panama City. It has six lanes, a central island and two piers. It is approximately 3.5 km long and is located on the shores of the Pacific Ocean, making it one of the main points of interest for the real estate development of the city.
Comfortable walking shoes and sunscreen are recommended.
